The (External) London development centre has developed an interactive map of services and projects for people given a diagnosis of personality disorder or with experiences often associated with that diagnosis, across London. It is to help people find out about what is available in their area and also give an overview of what type of services there are in London at the momen. Click on a borough in the map below to find out more about the specific services available.

London borough map

What is included in the map?

The map is focussed only on services and projects which are specifically related to personality disorder. It does not include general mental health services or projects which are open to anyone with any mental health issues.

The map includes all services and projects the team were able to find out about in London. The map does not recommend or comment on the quality of the services provided. All information was gathered from staff in each of the projects or services, unfortunately there were not the resources to gather the views of people who use each of the services. Additionally there are no doubt other projects and services which were not found. However every effort will be made to keep the map up to date as new projects and services emerge, so anything not included now can be added at a later date.

Where does the map come from?

At a meeting of people using mental health services it was agreed it would be helpful to bring together information about the range of different work on personality disorder going on across Greater London in one easily accessible place.

In May 2008 the London Development Centre (formerly part of Care Services Improvement Partnership, CSIP) commissioned a small team of service users to create a map of initiatives across London, specifically for people with issues related to personality disorder.

Who made the map?

A small team of people with experience of using mental health services specifically linked to personality disorder worked with staff from the London Development Centre to create the map.

How was information gathered?

Information about what was available in each London borough was gathered through a combination of internet searches, contact with local service providers and voluntary sector organisations and bringing together previous listings. A member of staff from each project or service was interviewed about their service and asked about any other services or activities they knew of.
