Emergence prepares for its first Open Day
An action packed day awaits the 150 delegates* attending Emergence’s first Open Day on Friday July 8.
The day will start with a keynote presentation from Meredith Vivian OBE, Emergence’s newest recruit. For many years Meredith was Deputy Director of Mental Health Care Pathways at the Department of Health.
This will be followed with a number of short, targeted presentations in which managing director Kath Lovell and her team of directors will set out the work being undertaken by the national service user-led organisation and the plans for the next 12 months.
After lunch, there will be a drama performance by Resurgence. The group performed at the Department of Health’s Personality Disorder Congress in November 09. They will be performing a section of a work which will debut in October during Mental Health Awareness.
Emergence is also delighted that Kayla Kavanagh will be performing. Kayla is a solo artist with a difference. The Yorkshire-based singer/songwriter plays nine instruments, writes and performs her own original music and has toured the UK with her ‘one-woman band’ show from the side of a VW Campervan. Kayla has become an ambassador for awareness of Borderline Personality Disorder.
There will be a number of stands at the Open Day showcasing Emergence’s work and job opportunities.
Emergence is also hoping all those attending on the day will sign its first ever Petition – to support them to ‘Change Attitudes and Build Lives’ of all those affected by personality disorders.
