Free at Last – A Story of Hope
Adrian was 15 and a half years old when he was first detained under the Mental Health Act (MHA) at one of Britain’s three high security hospitals. In 2007 he was conditionally discharged from hospital, at the age of 52, but continued to be held under the MHA – he was moved to Colchester and registered at The Haven. The Haven Project is dedicated to the support and treatment of people with a personality disorder diagnosis who live in North East Essex.
Just in time for Christmas 2010 – on November 19 – after 40 years of being held under a section of the MHA, Adrian attended one of several Appeal Tribunals and his section was finally lifted.
Read Adrian’s story in the latest edition (October – November 10) of Personality Disorder North Essex News page 2.
